FireWire Depot announces optical repeater, compact flash reader
June 27, 2003 - 06:30 PDT   FireWire Depot today announced the availability of the FireNEX 1394b Optical Repeater and a USB to 6-in-1 Compact Flash Card Reader. The FireNEX 1394b Optical Repeater will work with 1394b and with 1394a, and is capable of sending IEEE1394 signals across an optical fiber cable up to 500 meters in length. The price has been set at US$888.95 for a pair of optical repeaters.  Optical cable is also available. The DB-35U 6in1, a USB 6-in-1 Compact Flash Card Reader, supports six different kinds of storage cards: CompactFlash, SmartMedia, IBM Microdrive, MemoryStick, MultiMedia-Card, and Secure Digital Card, for a price of $49.  [ Email this story ]
