Slim Devices debuts Squeezebox, SlimServer 5.0

Slim Devices today announced the Squeezebox, a wireless MP3 player with built-in display that streams music from a user's computer to any stereo or home theater. The US$299 device offers a built-in display, 802.11 wireless and ethernet networking, and support for MP3, WAV and AIFF. Slim Devices today also released SlimServer 5.0, a new version of the open source software that powers the Squeezebox and the company's original SLIMP3. SlimServer runs on Mac OS X, Windows, Linux, BSD, and Solaris, and is available as a free download. Version 5.0 offers tighter integration with iTunes and remote streaming over the Internet.
