iPod mini audio distortion problems reported

Some iPod mini owners are reporting problems with the headphone jacks of the tiny digital music players. According to recent postings to the iPodlounge forum, the problem involves "horrible static noises" and sometimes complete loss of sound. Noting that the device is covered by a one year warranty, Apple said it is aware of "a few isolated reports" of audio problems.
