Adam Tow to speak at Newton conference
July 15, 2004 - 10:44 PDT
Adam Tow, an influential figure in the Newton world, has joined the Worldwide Newton Association, whose goal is to promote the Newton computing platform, and will be a speaker at the first annual Worldwide Newton Conference. The Newton was Apple's personal digital assistant (PDA) that was axed by CEO Steve Jobs six years ago.
Tow is currently president of the SNUG (Stanford Newton User Group), a software developer and a photographer. He is also the author of: HyperNewt, a tool for creating and organizing data on the Newton; Mapper, an image viewer meant for large scale images; and NewtToDo, a full-featured to-do list application, among others. Tow's speech will center on his personal history with the Newton.
"It will cover my introduction to the original MessagePad as a college freshman in 1993, the creation of Foundation Systems in my dorm room, the Newton Protest I organized days after the product's cancellation in February 1998, and the Newton's renaissance in recent years," he says.
The Worldwide Newton Conference will take place on Sept. 4-5 in Paris, at the Institut Culturel Hongrois. You can register online.
