Sub-$1,000 color lasers to grow in popularity

Worldwide shipments of color laser printers priced under $1,000 will increase from 37 percent of total color laser printer shipments in 2003 to 56 percent of total color laser printer shipments by 2008 (a compound annual growth rate of 35 percent), according to a new report from Lyra Research. The report, "Color Laser Printers: Worldwide Market Forecast and Analysis," also reveals that color laser printers with print speeds of 10-23 pages per minute will account for the majority of all color laser printers shipped by 2008, replacing the slower 1-9 ppm machines that currently dominate.
