August 9, 2004 - 12:48 PDT
Slim Devices has updated Squeezebox, the award-winning networked music player that streams digital music from a user's computer to any stereo or home theater. The updated player features a new bitmapped graphics display; it costs US$199 for the wired-only model and $279 for the wireless model. The display is also available separately as an upgrade module for $69 (after a $20 rebate). Slim Devices has also launched the "Squeezebox Plugin Contest," which is designed to "reward the contributions of its active developer community and demonstrate the unique flexibility and power of the Squeezebox and SlimServer platform. Details about the contest and rules are available on the Slim Devices' Web site.
