HP set to launch major iPod ad campaign
August 27, 2004 - 10:49 PDT
Hewlett-Packard will kick off a new advertising campaign for its version of Apple's iPod during the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, Aug. 29. Award-winning music video producer Paul Hunter directed the collection of television spots that will launch the Apple iPod from HP. No other details of the commercials are currently known. In related news, HP said that it would promote its iPod at a slew of most major retailers, including Circuit City, CompUSA, Best Buy, Office Depot, Staples, Radio Shack, Fry's, Amazon.com and Costco. "Clearly Apple has done a great job of making the iPod popular, but we have a wide distribution globally, so it'll really help in driving up the volume," said Vyomesh Joshi, an HP executive vice president.
