Analyst: Demand for Apple products ahead of expectations
March 8, 2005 - 13:23 PST
Following a survey of 30 Apple Stores and 20 Apple resellers, Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster said that demand for Apple's main products remains strong. "Our checks have left us more confident that demand for Apple's key products (most notably iMac, Powerbook, Mac mini and various versions of the iPod) continue to be ahead of expectations (exception is Power Mac)," Munster said in a research note. "We believe true demand for the iPod shuffle and Mac mini will not be visible in the March quarter, but we anticipate that strong demand across various segments of the company will allow Apple to exceed Street estimates for overall revenue and earnings. More importantly, we believe supply constraints on new products will ease in the June quarter and Street numbers will prove to be too low for June."
