SMS Mac 1.6 released as a Universal Binary
April 19, 2006 - 17:52 PDT   Alco Blom has released SMS Mac 1.6, the latest version of his SMS messaging application. With SMS Mac you can send a text message (SMS) to any mobile in the world. Also available are Send SMS 1.6, the award-winning Dashboard widget, the Send SMS 1.6 Yahoo! Widget for Windows XP and the SMS Mac 1.6 Address Book plug-in. All versions are now Universal Binaries, meaning they run native on Intel-based Macs. Also new is support for email2SMS gateways in the US.

In addition, Alco has released the SMS Mac Scripting Application 1.0. You can now send a text message (SMS) from an AppleScript. You can use it, for example, with iCal. You can configure iCal and SMS Mac to send yourself an SMS to remind you of an important meeting. On a Mac OS X server, you can use it to send the system administrator an SMS alert when a certain condition occurs. Several example scripts are included in the package. Use of the SMS Mac software is priced at US$10 per year and each SMS costs 10 cents. The first purchase is priced at $15 and includes 50 SMSs.  [ Email this story ]
